At Flemings Chapel, AWANA is more than a Sunday night program—it’s a joyful, Scripture-centered ministry where children grow in their faith, build friendships, and hide God’s Word in their hearts. From energetic games to age-appropriate Bible lessons, every night is designed to nurture discipleship in a fun, engaging, and Christ-honoring environment.
We meet under the sanctuary--just enter the front doors and take the stairs immediately on your right!
AWANA meets Sunday nights throughout the school year from 6-7:30PM
We offer AWANA for kiddos from pre-k to 12th grade, and all are welcome!
We provide bus rides for any kiddos who need extra help getting to church.
AWANA stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed (2 Timothy 2:15). It’s a global discipleship program focused on helping children learn Scripture, understand the gospel, and build a lifelong faith foundation through:
At Flemings Chapel, we’re committed to making AWANA a place where every child feels known, welcomed, and encouraged.
For over 150 years, Flemings Chapel has been committed to reaching families with the gospel and raising the next generation to love and follow Christ. AWANA continues that mission by giving children:
We believe discipleship starts early, and AWANA helps lay the foundation.
Cubbies introduces preschoolers to foundational Bible truths through simple lessons, engaging stories, and early memory work that helps them understand God’s love in a fun, age-appropriate environment.
Sparks builds strong Bible literacy by guiding younger elementary children through structured Scripture memory, key doctrinal truths, and interactive handbook activities that make learning exciting.
T&T challenges older elementary students with deeper Bible exploration, character-building lessons, and handbook work designed to strengthen their understanding of who God is and how to live out their faith.
Trek helps middle-schoolers navigate real questions about faith and life through thoughtful Bible study, guided discussion, and a curriculum that encourages personal growth and ownership of their beliefs.
Journey equips high-school students with in-depth Bible study, mentorship, and service opportunities that foster mature discipleship and prepare them to live out their faith beyond the walls of the church.
Chip has been part of AWANA since childhood, first as a student and now as a faithful leader. As a long-time member of Flemings Chapel, he brings a genuine passion for helping children grow in their relationship with Christ.
Chip plays a vital role in leading our program—overseeing club operations, supporting leaders, and creating a positive environment where kids can learn, grow, and thrive.
Elizabeth has been faithfully involved in AWANA for over 20 years and has a heart for helping children grow in God’s Word. Her favorite part of AWANA is seeing kids have fun while learning Scripture, and she is continually amazed by how much young children can understand and retain.
Elizabeth shares that she smiles more on Sunday evenings at AWANA than at any other time during the week!
Marcia has been a part of AWANA for 33 years, beginning when her own children first attended. She enjoys guiding Sparks through memory verses, handbook time, and lessons that help them understand who God is and how His Word shapes their everyday lives.
Marcia serves with patience, enthusiasm, and a deep commitment to helping early elementary children build a strong foundation in Scripture.
Jill’s favorite part of AWANA is watching children grow in their understanding of what it means to follow Jesus and to trust Him each day. She treasures the smiles, friendships, and the joy of seeing God’s plan unfold in the lives of each unique child.
She says, “AWANA continually reminds me that I need to hold fast to God’s Word, and that God can speak to my heart through the voice of a child—He knows me so well.”
Michaela brings energy, compassion, and a gift for connecting with middle-school students as they navigate big questions about faith and life. She leads Trek with thoughtful discussion, meaningful Bible study, and a genuine desire to help students take ownership of their walk with Christ.
She says, ““Getting to open the Bible in Awana together gives me so much hope. The faith and understanding of God’s word that these youth seek to have reminds me that God is still working and guiding His children!”
With a strong background in youth ministry and a genuine heart for students, Pastor Weston is passionate about helping young people grow in their walk with Christ.
This is Weston’s first year with us at AWANA, and we are excited to see what the Lord has in store. Weston is eager to walk alongside students as they grow in their faith and deepen their knowledge of Jesus Christ.
